PRIZES TOTALING 10,000 Del Mar Handicap to Be Decided July 31, Closing Day, Carrying ,000 Added. LOS ANGELES, Calif., April 12. The new track at Del Mar has announced a purse distribution totaling 10,000 for its first meeting, which opens July 3 and runs for twenty-two days. The Del Mar Handicap, ,000 added, one mile and one-sixteenth, to be run July 31, the closing day, will be the richest event of the meeting, but there will be special prizes for each of the five Saturdays and for the one holiday, July 5. The latter date falls on a Monday, which will be the only Monday racing. Eight races daily will be carded, with 2:30 set as the post time. A special train will be run daily from Los Angeles to the track, and airplanes will operate on regular schedules to the landing field, which is adjacent to the track. The hangars are only 300 feet from the main gate. The track is a standard mile oval with two regulation chutes.
