SPEEDY EPITHET IN STUD The fastest horse ever bred by the late Gifford A Cochran at Shandon Farm in Kentucky was Epithet Upon the death of Mr Cochran some years ago his Kentucky estate located in the heart of the Blue Grass region near Lexington was purchased by R J and P A Nash of Chicago and Epithet was acquired by the late Silas B Mason Following the death of Mr Mason in 1936 Epithet was purchased by Thomas Piatt who has embarked him on a career in the stud Epithet set two new track records and his victories include the Hopeful Stakes of 1930 in which he beat Jamestown He is a chest ¬ nut horse by Epinard the speed marvel of France which raced against the best horse in America and his dam is the noted Fairy Wand a daughter of Star Shoot
