The Valdina Farms stable of Edward F Woodward Houston Texas financier and sportsman which has been cutting quite a figure in spring racing completed a double at Wash ¬ ington Park this afternoon when after Osculet took one of the programs principal events Tedall took major honors in another Tedall and Osculet were saddled for their winning engagements by the veteran Louis ¬ ville trainer John J Flanigan whose charges bid fair to be one of the biggest purse winners of the current season seasonTedall Tedall ridden by apprentice Sammy Rob ¬ erts turned back five other top flight claim ¬ ing performers over six furlongs coming from last place in the last quarter mile to accomplish the feat The threeyearold son of Teddy defeated in order Denbigh a slight favorite over the winner Linas Son Prum Winged Victory and Me O My MyThe The Valdina threeyearold was unable to keep up in the early stages as Prum and Linas Son fought it out for pacemaking honors In the final quarter however Tedall began moving up on the outside and get ¬ ting to the front in the final sixteenth drew away fast to score by a length and a half Denbigh in turn beat Linas Son two lengths for second place while the latter was a head in front of the tiring Prum Neither Winged Victory nor Me O My of ¬ fered much contention after the first quar ¬ ter during which they raced close up upAlthough Although the skies were unclouded heavy fog hung over the course most of the afternoon and at times it was extremely difficult to follow the horses around the track The footing was good after the third race raceThe The chilly weather again held down the size of the crowd crowdOSCULET OSCULET HOME FIRST FIRSTTwoyearold Twoyearold fillies provided the action in one of the supporting races the fourth and the winner proved to be the Valdina Farms homebred Osculet the public choice The daughter of Osculator and Egret was ridden by Basil James who sent her to the front at the beginning and kept her there throughout At the end of the five fur ¬ longs she was in front of her nearest rival Well Rewarded by two lengths while Hands Down was third and Fancy That fourth fourthWell Well Rewarded for which the Milky Way Farm paid 3800 as a yearling ran a good race to be second for she dropped out of contention at the outset and then raced past all but the winner to account for sec ¬ ond honors Sand Bag which raced from first page at Churchill Downs ran the five furlongs over a good track in 100 100In In spite of running out badly in the stretch the Woolford Farms Enagala I scored her third straight victory her first here when she defeated eight other two yearolds in the five furlongs event which opened the program Hustled to the front immediately after the start by apprentice Sammy Roberts the Insco filly remained in the van to the end to get the decision by a neck as Techy raced to the place Sunberra a slight favorite in an open betting affair accounted for third honors while Avirab was next Miss Pittypat raced closest to the win ¬ ner to the stretch then faltered finally fin ¬ ishing in fifth position positionLeo Leo Beydas Young Agnes winner of her only start at Aurora scored a popular vic ¬ tory under Paul Ryan in the second event in which ten platers met over six furlongs Second honors went to Wild Play with Tankie finishing third and Dicks Pal next Young Agnes gradually improved her posi ¬ tion on the outside on the turn forged her way to the front about an eighth out and continued on to score by a length as Wild Play beat Tankie a neck for the place Offender which was well supported raced well up and on the inside to the last eighth and then gave way badly while Sunny Sethina the early pace maker had nothing left after reaching the head of the stretch stretchWITH WITH LENGTHS TO SPARE SPAREDave Dave Shaws Day Dawn which has not been under colors since the Tropical Park season but which won her last two starts there defeated nine other threeyearolds over six furlongs in the third number Com ¬ ing from behind in the stretch the Distrac ¬ tion filly handled by E E Phillips scored with two and a half lengths to spare Girls Chance the choice showed the way by a sizeable margin for fiveeighths and then gave way finishing third as Maxine B ac counted for second money two lengths in front of the favorite Saxlen ran a bangup race to be fourth for he was away slowly and trailed the field for the first quarter mile mileDanise Danise M racing under the colors of the Arctarus Stable returned to the races after an absence of nearly a year to account for the Hyde Park Purse the sixth race and another of the better contests on the card The race was decided over six furlongs and the gray Epinard filly won it by a length and a half with I Anderson iri the saddle
