POMPOON IN USEFUL WORK FOR THE BELMONT STAKES NEW YORK N Y May 27 Dan Clarke brought out J H Louchheims Pompoon at Belmont Park yesterday and permitted the son of Pompey to step along for a handy mile in 142 The colt was in hand all the way and it was not the same scorching trial as that shown by War Admiral Wednes ¬ day morning when the son of Man o War worked the full Belmont route of a mile and a half in 236 The present plan is to set Pompoon down in a longer gallop before the Belmont Stakes and Clarke is confident bis charge will be ready readyMax Max Hirsch had Mrs Julia M Lofts Mo sawtre out and his task was a mile and a furlong Like Pompoon he accomplished his task handily going the first mile in 142
