SWEEPDEN AND JOCKEY YOUNG Combination Successful in Running of Woolavington Cup at Woodbine Crowd of 6000 Sees Hatch Stables Color ColorBearer Bearer Beat Silver Jubilee Jubileeand and Trickys Son TORONTO OntrMay 27 Sweepden rac ¬ ing in the light and dirk blue silks qfUhe H C Hatch stable added to that establish ¬ ments earnings when under the capable handling of Stirling Young she accounted for the Woolavington Cup Handicap feature for the fifth day of the Ontario Jockey Clubs spring meeting Silver Jubilee from the Parkwood Stable and favorite in the running of the Kings Plate raced to sec ¬ ond place before W C Hannas Trickys Son G M Hendries Stormblown making his first start of the season was fourth be ¬ fore Queensway which completed the field Sam Worthy a carded starter was a late withdrawal withdrawalA A crowd of six thousand witnessed the days racing which was run over a slow rac ¬ ing strip stripSweepden Sweepden was taken in hand soon after the start when Lindberg astride the Park wood representative found it difficult to keep his mount straight and from bearing in sharply In the run to the first turn Queensway drove through next the inner rail followed by Silver Jubilee and while Sweepden was in third place As they rounded into the back stretch Queensway drew away and Silver Jubilee was taken in hand They raced in this order until the turn was reached where Sweepden and Sil ¬ ver Jubilee moved up forward and they alternated in the lead until the final six ¬ teenth where Sweepden forged ahead and drew clear to have a length and onehalf advantage at the end Silver Jubilee con ¬ tinued well and was well before Trickys Son which had made up ground to land in third place placePROVIDES PROVIDES UPSET UPSETBlue Blue Wren an outsider in the wagering provided an upset when she was easily best of the limited field of twelve Canadianbreds that met in the opening race At the end of the six furlongs test the M Mino filly was in hand as she coasted across the fin ¬ ish line six easy lengths in advance of her nearest rival after dominating the running most of the way wayRideau Rideau the favorite accounted for the sec ¬ ond race a division of the opening event when he came from behind the pace set by Maple Tints to wear the leader down in the final sixteenth and earn the verdict by three quarters of a length The duel of the first pair drew them out three lengths before Solid which was third in the field of twelve Racing on the outside Rideau was waited with until straightened out in the stretch where he moved to the leader Maple Tints did not surrender without a struggle and from the furlong post to the finish the pair fought it out with the winner drawing away in the final few yards yardsVance Vance racing for Mrs Nat Ray drove to victory in the about one mile and five fur ¬ longs hurdle event that was third on the card Coming from far back in the early racing he was able to wrest the van position from Pekisko after the last obstacle had been cleared and earn a margin of slightly more than his length at the end Pekisko which had also been a trailer in the field moved up very fast on the inside approach ¬ ing the ninth fence and took a clear lead but the challenge of Vance was not to be denied Galabang was third after racing well placed throughout the entire distance distanceLANGSTAEFE LANGSTAEFE EASILY EASILYMaiden Maiden jockeys had their first opportunity of the meeting in the fourth event a dash at six furlongs which brought a field of five to the gate C Gallaghers Langstaffe ridden by E Waiters an apprentice in the employe of trainer H E Brown was returned a rather easy winner when he led R R Leslies Crinoline to the finish by a two and onehalf lengths margin J G Fairs Lorraine S raced to third place four lengths back and two and onehalf lengths in front of M Kee lings Silviris
