CONVENE IN EXTRA SESSION Texas Legislature Hears Message MessageFrom From Governor Allred Calling For ForPariMutuel PariMutuel Bill Repeal AUSTIN Tex May 27 The Texas legis ¬ lature which finished its 131 day regular session early Sunday morning convened today in extra session and heard a message from governor James V Allred calling for repeal of the mutuel betting law lawThe The outcome of the legislation is just as much in doubt now as it was during the regular term when the racing forces rallied sufficiently to keep the Bradbury Bills ad ¬ vocates from advancing it beyond its remote order on the senate calendar It is believed the house again will pass the measure though by a smaller vote than that given it last February Efforts it is believed will be made to have the measure amended amendedRepealists Repealists claim a majority in the senate but some of the repeal leaders admitted less than two weeks ago that they were not so confident of success as they had been earlier in the conflict conflictProposed Proposed amendments to the repeal bill that have been generally discussed include one for local elections wherever a racing permit is sought and another which would postpone repeal until the fall of 1939 so that lif a legislature more favorable to racing might sit in that year the law could be rescinded
