OMAHAS AUSPICIOUS OPENING Inaugural Handicap Headliner of At ¬ tractive Card Decided Over Slow Track Expect Big Fields OMAHA Neb May 27 The annual Ak SarBen meeting opened auspiciously this afternoon when a crowd of about 5000 turned out to witness the running of a sevenrace card featured by the Inaugural Handicap Due to recent rains and the fact that the track was slow in drying out the track was rather heavy although clim ¬ atic conditions were ideal idealDue Due to the condition of the track the en ¬ tries for Friday were rather slow in filling but once the session gets under way and the course dries out it is expected that large fields will participate in the various events eventsIt It was reported Thursday that a couple of carloads of useful horses were expected from Bay Meadows following the close of that meeting Saturday afternoon while another car or two were slated to be en route from Aurora AuroraGeneral General manager J J Isaacson has ar ¬ ranged several interesting days during the meeting for outoftown visitors Different days will be named for surrounding cities and large delegations of sportsmen are ex ¬ pected to come to Omaha via special train to take in the races in the afternoon and the AkSarBen Den show at night
