WOODSAW PROVES REPEATER Registers One of the Many Doubles Doublesto to Credit of R Hash in Taking TakingBlock Block Island Purse PAWTUCKET R I Oct 21 J A Nix Woodsaw a horse tnat has not been out of the money in sixteen starts this season made twoinarow at Narragansett Park when he won the threequarters Block Island Purse which featured a sunny afternoon of sport at the Pawtucket racing grounds Woodsaw carried Ronnie Nash to one of the numerous doubles that lad has scored here Nash had previously ridden home Loafer At the end the Cherokee threeyearold was a half length clear of Townsend B Martins favored Gala pas with Mrs F Rossitcrs Marson taking the third award two lengths back Mansco was fourth and Play Dis trailed the field of five Woodsaw finished out In 112 over a track that was slightly dead from rains of last evening eveningWoodsaw Woodsaw had to be much the best horse to win and Nash once more showed that he is a heady and expert little horseman when in difficulties Woodsaw broke from No 1 stall and was hot in pursuit of Marson and Gala pas as they went down the back stretch Midway of that lane the two leaders had Nash down on the rail so that he could not possibly get through He eased back cleverly moved after the leaders on the outside mak ¬ ing the turn and was fast closing on them at the eighth post Galapas postGalapas showed the way in the run to the sixteenth marker but at that post Woodsaw moved past and under a hustling hand ride he was drawing away at the end Galapas was made a heavy choice despite Woodsaws Impressive record and his last sparkling effort here He had no excuse to ¬ day He simply met a better horse With clearer sailing Woodsaw would have won by a wider margin
