DECISION TO GETAWAY JACK Victory of Jack Horgan Juvenile Is Isthe the Third Triumph of Day for forApprentice Apprentice J Bowen CINCINNATI Ohio Oct 21 Getawry Jack foaled in the city of Cincinnati scored his first victory over his home town course when Jimmy Bowen upandcoming appren ¬ tice drove him to a head victory in the fifth and best race offered to a big crowd at River Downs this afternoon The son ofi Jack Horgan completed a triple for Bowen who started it with Peppy in the second i event Scrappy Miss the favorite sue cumbed to the winner after leading until I the final stride of the one mile and forty i yards journey and Hasty Ruth Scrappy Miss strongest opponent throughout was third 1 A return to sunny weather was responsible for the big crowd and the wagering was very brisk However Peppys victory in the second race was the only score for the fa vorites during the opening five events Over confidence on the part of G C Fisher prob ably cost Scrappy Miss victory for he rushed her to the front and she was under steadying restraint to the final stages where Getaway Jack came with his belated thrust Fisher realizing the threat too late was unable to rouse Scrappy Miss in time to es ¬ cape defeat
