TREKKING TO CHURCHILL Horses Expected From Sportsmans Keeneland and River Downs Col Matt J Winn Is Due at the theDerby Derby Track Today to Supervise SupervisePreparations Preparations for Opening LOUISVILLE Ky Oct 24 Horsemen poured into Churchill Downs Sunday with more than 200 thoroughbreds shipping here from the successful Keeneland meeting which came to a close Saturday According to track superintendent Tom Young more than ICO additional horses are scheduled to reach here from Lexington Monday and Tuesday Registrations have been received for 500 horses and with the close of Sports ¬ mans Park in Chicago and River Downs Young is hopeful of having more than 500 horses here for participation during the seven days of racing which gets under way next Saturday SaturdayCol Col Matt J Winn is in Chicago and is erpected to be at his desk Tuesday morn ¬ ing Winn is in the Windy City in the in ¬ terest of racing dates for Lincoln Fields in 1939 1939Among Among the arrivals Sunday at the Derby track were A G Tarn who has his entire stable assembled Tarn is directing the training of Bronze Saint Maderis Pundit Bien Fait Sun Madras and Sun Victor for the Corsicana Stable and Sir Gawaine for W C Stroube and Don Grant While Tarn has an interest in the Corsicana Stable he also has a large stable that races in his own name Those that sport the Tarn colors are Rushaway the iron horse Wise Fox Faust Pelter Velociter Jens Son Hypo Ritz Brothers He Said Ovid and Texas Rose RoseLETELLIERS LETELLIERS BIG STABLE STABLEAnother Another large stable to find accommoda ¬ tions this morning was the establishment in charge of Frank P Letellier New Orleans sportsman In the shipment which races for Letellier were Southland Beau Billbo Squaw Lady My Lawyer Boy Valet Agnes Knight Don Byrd Buttons B La Quinta Back Chat and Southland Gem For A B Lctellier his brother he is conditioning White Castle and Steel Heels and Drifting Home for the account of J W Bell Letel ¬ lier also has in his outfit Miss Lizzie which races for A J Stallings and Prince Feng which LctellierHeaded sports the silks of F J Lctellier Headed by the much improved Strut which races for T H McCaffrey of Chicago Legenda which sports the silks of C L Groan and others H H PeteV Battle vanned his public stable over today from Keeneland Battle is also training the vet ¬ eran mare Candescent for B C Carpenter Prenny for Gano Glass and Zebar which races for the Minton Hickory Farm stable Chance Star and Queenie are the only racers in the outfit which race in the Battle silks
