YANKEE BOAT SQUARES SERIES WITH CANADIAN NAHANT Mass Oct 24 United States challenger Gertrude L Thebaud today made it twoall in the International Fishermens series Wresting the lead from the Canadian champion Blucnose coming toward the half ¬ way mark of the thirtysixmile triangular course Gertrude L Thebaud held it to the end The Gloucester boat rounded the finish buoy twice to make doubly sure of her vic ¬ tory A southeast wind was blowing at nine ¬ teen knots at the start but it tapered off later Rain fell intermittently and decks were awash most of the time The Queen of the North American fishing fleet was off in the lead at 1005 a m negotiating the first twelvemile leg In forty minutes The Can ¬ adian schooner had a lead of 1 minute and 30 seconds turning the buoy Then the Ger ¬ trude L Thebaud worked to windward and at the twentyfour mile mark was half a mile in the lead Bluenose in the failing wind tried desperately to overhaul Gertrude L Thebaud but failed the Gloucester boat finishing well ahead of the Canadian
