ALASKAS WORST FIRE WASHINGTON D C Oct 24 The worst fire since 1921 raged unchecked in Anchor ¬ age Alaska today according to a radio dis ¬ patch received here via the U S Army Sig ¬ nal Corps Starting in a cook shack the blaze swept through the town destroying railroad stores a cold storage plant and sev ¬ eral cars in the railroad yards The blaze was discovered early last night When the dispatch was received by the war depart ¬ ment the fire was not under control The report said the fire was the worst suffered by Anchorage since 1921 when a business block was burned Signal corps buildings had not been threatened the dispatch said
