FEDERAL CHRISTMAS PROGRAM Hallie Flanagan, national director of the Federal Theater, announced Monday a nation-wide program of special plays and pageants for the Christmas season. Many of the plays will have direct appeal to children while all will be appropriate for the Yule-tide. The New York City project will present the "Advent of the Nativity" on trucks playing the five boroughs. Prior to the performances Christmas carols will be sung by choristers. Two companies, one Negro and one white, will play designated areas for a five-hour period, and opening night is scheduled for December 19. Each performance will run for thirty-five minutes. The eastern region of the Federal Theater has scheduled "Pinocchio" and "the Pageant of the Sherman and the Tailors" for churches, and schools in the Italian section of Boston, "Christmas Carol," "The Shepheids" and "Pinocchio" for the marionette unit; "A Christmas Tree in the Window" by the radio division, and "A Christmas Dream" by the vaudeville unit. "A Moral Entertainment" will open in Philadelphia on December 17, and "The Glass Slipper" at Roslyn, L. I., on December 26. .
