THE AMERICA NEW LINER NAME NEW YORK, N. Y., Dec. 5. A new 6,-000,000 trans-Atlantic liner now under construction, will be named "The America," the United States Lines announced today. "The America," first of the" United States new streamlined Merchant Marine, will be launched in 1940. Its keel was laid last August. It will be the companys flag ship, running from New York to Cobh, Ireland, ports in the English Channel and Hamburg. It will be about 26,000-tons, with accommodations for 1,219 passengers and a crew of 639.
