JACOBS SILKS TO FORE IN DELAWARE FEATURE FEATURESilent Silent Witness Reaches Finish Line Three Lengths in Advance of Alhalon Claimed for 4000 4000STANTON STANTON Del June 3 Silent Witness a very busy performer won his seventh race in nineteen starts this year when he accounted for the Mill Creek Purs j headline attraction at Delaware Park this afternoon Accomplishing his task for Mrs E D Jacobs the fiveyearold son of Busy Amer ¬ ican and Edith Alice found another of the many homes he has enjoyed the past two years when G R Watkins claimed him for his entered price of 4000 Running the one and onesixteenth miles over a fast but dull track in the sparkling time of 145 and carrying 118 pounds which included Manny Berg Silent Witness held a three length advantage ever V C Ernsts Alhalon while Howard Bruces General Mowlee was third a halflength back Hypocrite saved fourth from Greedan and Jacsteal and the latter pair were always far back backCloudy Cloudy weather prevailed for the sport which engaged only members of the claim ¬ ing ranks but the racing was the most formful of the meeting and Silent Witness success was the third enjoyed by the fa ¬ vorites The crowd was estimated at 7000 7000WINNER WINNER UNDER PRESSURE PRESSUREAlways Always within striking distance of the lead and benefited by finding room on the inside Silent Witness began to improve his position soon after entering the final half halon the pacemaker began to drift out mile Nearing the final quartermile Al ¬ and Berg drove the Jacobs representative through on the inside to take command He went into a clear lead rounding the turn but General Mowlee found the same opening and he was only a length back of the winner a furlong from the finish How ¬ ever Berg kept the winner under good pres ¬ sure using his whip to the final forty yards and these tactics sent his charge well in advance of his field Sisto straightened Alhalon somewhat when inside the final furlong and he wore down General Mowlee in the closing stages stagesHypocrite Hypocrite was in closest pursuit of Al ¬ halon during the run to the upper turn but gave way when Silent Witness challenged and dropped back to fourth position dur ¬ ing the run for home Greedan and Jac ¬ steal began slowest in the small field and failed to change positions positionsRED RED MARS GRADUATES GRADUATESRed Red Mars a son of Mars Electress and the property of the Mansfield Stable used the fifth race fashioned for plater three yearolds for his graduation from the maiden ranks but he received his diploma by a scant margin Buckleup furnished by C C Vaughn was so closely aligned with him that the picture was called upon to seu arate them Feed Patch the favorite and early pacemaker was third with Rose Anit and Landfall who completed the field fin ¬ ishing in that order orderOvercoming Overcoming slight interference at the turn Red Mars was rushed into contention but after attaining it R Howell place him under restraint and he did not make hia move until Buckleup on the inside of him went to Feed Patch who was racing closest to the rail The trio raced heads apart until nearing the final quarter where Feed Patch dronped back and then the leaders began a mpandtuck battle which ended at the finish of the one and onesixteenth miles Rose Anita and Landfall always were far back
