COMMISSION STEWARD FINES AND SUSPENDS SAMMY HICKS Violated Claiming Regulation of The Jockey Club of New York YorkSTANTON STANTON Del June 3 The Delaware stewards were notified by Marshall Cassidy steward representing the New York Racing Commission that trainer Sammy Hicks had been fined 200 and suspended for the re ¬ mainder of the Belmont Park meeting for violation of a claiming rule ruleHicks Hicks acting for D J Sullivan claimed Seven Hills at Belmont Park and then brought the horse here when he won the fifth race last Saturday The New York rules specify that a horse claimed cannot race at another track until the close of the meeting claimedThe at which he was claimed The notice received by Delaware stewards from Cassidy follows followsYou You are advised that trainer Sammy Hicks is suspended for the remainder of the Belmont meeting and fined 200 for violation of the New York claiming rule which provides that a horse claimed at a meeting shall not run elsewhere until after the close of the meeting at which he was claimed claimedHappy Happy Hunting finished second to Seven Hills Sir Alfred third Sailor King fourth and Ice Water fifth The Jockey Club rules under which Delaware Park operates pro ¬ vides that when a winner is not eligible to the race a claim can be made for the purse but it must be filed within fortyeight hours excluding Sundays At noon no claim had been filed by Dion Kerr who saddled Happy Hunting for his owner ownerThe The Delaware stewards announced the Sul ¬ livan horses would be permitted to run when placed In the hands of an approved trainer
