JOCKEY WHITING BRINGS HOME ANOTHER AKSARBEN WINNER Pilots Keen Gloaming to Fore in Opening Contest at Omafia OmafiaOMAHA OMAHA Neb June 17 Lyle Whiting who is sailing well in front of the other riders on the AkSarBen jockey roster add ¬ ed another winner to his score when he brought the sevenyearold Keen Gloaming home in advance of a large band of Ne braskabreds in the first race Tuesday The distance was five furlongs and it was a tight fit between Keen Gloaming and Don Ban ¬ quet at the end The public made Prairie King who was making his first start of the season favorite in the affair regardless of the fact that the inexperienced apprentice L Larsen was in the saddle Prairie King faded in the stretch A long shot completed the Daily Double when Lucky Lillie won the second race caus ing the combination to pay 38460 L Lee who has not been prominent in the saddle at the track this season showed good judg ¬ ment in timing his move to have Lucky Lil ¬ lie up in time to beat the well played Gold Princess It was another twelvehorse af ¬ fair and Lucky Lillie paid 45 straight It was announced today that the jockeys riding at AkSarBen would be taken on a tour of Father Flanagans Boys Town Thurs ¬ day They will be shown through the plant by James T English county attorney of Douglas County in which Omaha is situated Mr English is one of Omahas foremost boosters for Father Flanagans fine project John L Watkins placing judge and clerk of scales at AkSarBen arranged for the tour
