JONGLEUR IN POPULAR TRIUMPH AT DELAWARE DELAWARERoyal Royal Minstrel Colt Remains Unbeaten as He Drives Home in Van in Corner Ketch Purse PurseSTANTON STANTON Del June 17 Jongleur one of the last of Royal Minstrels American crop of foals kept his record unblemished when he drove to another of the many pop ¬ ular victories as racing was resumed over a slo sloiT iT track at Delaware Park this afternoon Flaunting the green and white banner of Walter M Jeffords Pennsylvania breeder the winner came to the end of six furlongs in the Corner Ketch Purse three parts of a length before Mrs Ethel D Jacobs Lively hood with Mrs Arthur Crouchs Homeward Bound in third position a half of a length farther back War Key winner of one of his two starts both of which were over the local racing strip saved fourth from Sky Lane Just Enuf and Atom Smasher who finished in named order orderOvercast Overcast skies following two days of in inermittent ermittent showers prevented the track trackcrew crew from having the flat course in fast fastcondition condition but the steeolechase course was wasast largecrowd ast In spite of the weather another large crowd sportIt witr essed the sport It was Jongleurs first effort since his vic ¬ tory at Pimlico and his morning trials were not overlooked by the talent He was backed into 2 to 1 favoritism and although losing much ground by bearing out at the stretch turn proved to be the best Albert Schmidl was at the reins and although War Key and Just Enuf outbroke him Jongleur took com ¬ mand before entering the final halfmile He drew away from Just Enuf at the bend and was coasting along when he drifted out at the turn This enabled Livelyhood to gain on him but the latter was Unable to match strides and the winner drew clear before entering the final sixteenth In the last stages Jongleur tired but still had enough to hold Livelyhood safe safeAfter After the winner went into command Just Enuf and War Key engaged in a hard tussle for second honors but lasted only for a half mile They gave way rapidly when Lively hood and Homeward Bound the latter com ¬ ing from well back offered their strong challenges Sky Lane lost much ground and Atom Smasher was through after fivesix ¬ teenths teenthsFencing Fencing perfectly and showing fine speed over the straightaway Mrs Van Lear Blacks Strolling On was a popular winner of the steeplechase which served as he third event Ridden by N Brown the four yearold son of Strolling Player made his own pace to reach the end of the less than two miles twentyfive lengths before Kil trap with Roll and Toss third fifteen lengths farther back
