Y., April 14.— The War Labor Board has denied an application by the five New York racing associations for minor salary increases to pari-mutuel employes at the New York tracks. The formal application, which outlined the reasons for the requested increase, also was signed by officials of the Mutuel Clerks Independent Union. In denying the wage increases, the War Labor Board cited the "Little Steel" formula and it is presumed that the fact that mutuel clerks received an increase in 1941 was a major factor in the decision. It is understood hat the union is applying to the WLB for a hearing.
