New England Notes SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., June 29. Trainer J. J. Kelly took over the training of Felt Hat for A. Heflin. Jockey Sammy Luce has given first call on his riding services for the balance of the meeting to the Mae Kay Stable. Blood Donor has been added to starter Bob Fiends schooling list, while a trio of horses made the stewards list, Seven Hills, Patron Saint and Thruanthru. The horses Flourtown and Thruanthru have been added to starter Bob Friends schooling list. Jockey J. DeLucia announced today that he will sever his association with the Nor-walk Stable on July 1 and join the J. Tabelario string, now in charge of trainer Virgil Oden. Pat Patterson will ride his last race as an apprentice on July 2. The boy broke his maiden astride Baying on February 23, 1944, at Hialeah Park, but due to the racing brown-out his apprenticeship was extended through next Sunday. Racing secretary Charles J. McLennan is calling attention of horsemen to Saturdays closing of the ,000 Tomasello Memorial Handicap at six furlongs. The race will feature the sport on July 7. R. B. Berini, owner of the Del Farro Stable, was an arrival from his home at Detroit. He plans to remain for the balance of the season. Miss Ruth Howies Rocket Gal, who broke down badly Tuesday at Suffolk Downs, will be saved for breeding purposes, according to trainer A. F. East. Mrs. A. Nissenbaum has turned her stable of five horses over to trainer A. P. Benoit, who succeeds Roy Chisman.
