GALLORETTE was hard held while following the early pace, forged to the front and won with speed to spare. ELPIS was saved behind the early leaders, moved up menacingly, but was not good enough. MONSOON, unprepared for the start, propped at the break, but moved up gradually, only to tire near the end. BELPAST and TRANS-FLINT were overmatched and quit badly after showing early speed. GEORGE CASE moved up on the outside to take command when his rider chose, drew clear at will and was going easily at the end. RED CIN rallied from far back to be best of the others. LOST AND FOUND cut out the earlv running under bust | tactics and held on fairly well for the show. PRESSCRE moved menaringlv on the final turn, then flattened out. FAIR ANN ran an even race. NITA JEAN had some speed. SIGNAL CORPS flashed speed. LORD CALVERT was off well, but dropped back graduailv in a miserable performance. Scratched— 78173 Fall Brook, 111; 78466 Theseus, 111. REFRESH was a forward factor from the start and came willingly in the drive. SMOKE PUFF rallied mildly, but was forced wide while improving his position. OGOODY dwelt at the start and showed a good effort thereafter. NORA BELLE alternated in forcing and setting the pace to the eighth post, then folded up. JACONDA cut across sharply to reach contention at the first turn, but faltered in the drive. WAR SHY quit. Overweight — Nora Belle. 2 pounds; War hy. 1: Gullah, 5.
