BARNACLE, badly outrun for a half, was well handled while moving between horses in the stretch and won under strong pressure. HADA STAR was steadied while within striking distance of the leaders, moved gamely when called upon, took command just before reaching the wire, but could not resist the winner. ALATOMO, off well but unable to hold the early advantage, again moved to the front on the turn, drew clear gradually, but tired. FLYING NED, in the first tlieht from the start, loomed dangerous at the furlong pole but hung. BEANSTALK showed a good effort, but tired in the late stretch. PROBLEM CHILD showed very good speed to the stretch. TARFUN was through early. ATTUNE stopped to a walk, after showing in front early. TRACE ME stumbled and unseated rider at the five and one-half furlong pole. SIR BI.CESTEEL was steadied for the first mile, moved with good energy when asked, drew clear rapidly approaching the final fence, almost lost rider when lie landed badly, then recovered to be an easy winner. DANNY DEEVER raced well placed while fencing well and had no excuses. OSSABAW was in front for a mile *nd a half, had no mishaps, but tired. TREFORD loomed dangerous for a mile and a half, then stopped. BAGPIPE and ATOM SMASHER showed nothing. CAT LEG showed no jumping ability and iost rider at the third jump. MUGS GAME was under double wraps while in nearest pursuit of the pace for a mile, moved to the leader well in the early stretch, was hard ridden to displace him, then appeared ready to draw clear. AIR POWER, well rated while setting the pace, held on extremely well under good handling but could not resist the winner. OPENING BID, taken under restdaint after breaking slowest of all, rallied only mildly and faile dto become a serious threat. WHY NOT ME raced nearest the leader to the stretch, responded to pressure and gradually wore down RED SHOES. The latter sprinted into a commanding lead early, raced true and, under strong handling, fought it out willingly. LADY NOONDAY, off alertly but unable to remain in contention early, taught tired horses in the drive. POPO LASS raced evenly. PETES BEST Dashed speed. GIRLE1 IE, slow to settle into best stride, was forced to take the overland route, but while best of the other*, was no mach for the winner. TACK ROOM rallied mildly to catch tired horses in the losing furlong. VOYAGECR was hard ridden in an attempt to obtain an early advantage, then tired when the real test came.
