Vote Draft Extension WASHINGTON, D. C, May 4 UP.— The House Armed Services Committee voted unanimously today for a two-year standby extension of the draft law. At about the time the committee was voting, President Harry S. Truman was telling a news conference that the international situation has -improved, that he is in no way alarmed, and that defense spending will be lower in 1952.
