► « MARION H. VAN BERG — The Nebraska turfmans colors were seen in a pair of victories yesterday at Sportsmans Park, Play Again and Magnus scoring. Hilds Liberty Gets Call In Sportsmans Feature BanoviiKi and Patmiboy Vie With Duke Pailets Colorbearer Today . SPORTSMANS PARK. Cicero, 111., May 4. — Racing secretary Robert P. Mc» Auliffe made provisions tovhave the better horses here available for the week-end card when he drafted a claiming test to headline the program scheduled for presentation tomorrow. The sixth race, which spot Is usually allotted for the feature race, is the nominal top offering listed for Friday. Nine horses, one less than the maximum number of starters permitted at this West Side half-mile course, are entered in the sixth race. Each will compete for a claiming price of ,000. Named in the seven-furlong dash, which has a ,500 prize, are Mrs. E. Galliger Bandys Hyblaze, Marion H. VanBergs Sir White; Vesuvio, the property of B. W. Opperman; Roundeleer, owned in partnership by I. S. Winer and Samuel Rugendorf; Miss Lydia Webers Tuned Up, Ben Fogelsons Ration Book, H. D. Maggios Patmiboy, William Hal Bishops Banovina and Duke Pailets Hilds Liberty. On what the local fans have seen of the horses entered in this affair at the current meeting, Hilds Liberty will probably attract the most, support in the wagering. This four-year-old gelded son of Liberty Limited has appeared under silks but once, on Tuesday of this week, and he turned in a most impressive effort when second to Richavop. He is dropping down somewhat in company competing with this band than he faced in his lone attempt here. Richavoo headed Hilds Liberty by two and a half lengths In a race decided at the same distance as is tomorrows engagement and Hilds Liberty also carries the same poundage, 108. If Hilds Liberty doesnt succeed, it certainly cannot be attributed to lack of condition. He has already started 16 times this year, which has netted him one victory, two second awards, and the show portion of a purse on seven occasions. Before arriving here, the Pailet representative was campaigned at Lincoln Downs, seeing action in allowance contests mostly. Banovina narrowly missed gaining brackets in his outing here when second by a head to Bubbling Easy in a five-furlong allowance dash. Earlier this spring, Banovina raced at Oaklawn Park where he faced slightly sterner company and finished close up in several efforts.
