L. took after the leaders after going half the trip, raced wide while making her move, but easily headed TUNIC in the final furlong and won as her rider pleased. TUNIC went to the front early and raced COCKPIT into submission, but lacked the staying qualities to resist the winner. MARCIA D. was close enough in the early runing, but could make little impression in the stretch run. REGAL GLAD was going fairly well at the end. Start good from stall gate. Won easily; second and third driving. BLUE DAZZLER was well placed in the early running, followed ZERO closely into the stretch turn, saved ground when the latter went wide, tired in the closing stages, but was not threatened. ZERO headed SERGEANT on the far turn, drew cut, but lost her chance when she raced very wide on the stretch turn. WAR BLUES propped at the start and was forced very wide by WISE JURY on the first turn, then improved his position, but was unable to overcome the early handicap. WISE JURY recovered quickly after bearing out on the first turn, was in a contending position nearing the stretch, but raced very wide and tired badly in the last furlong. POMOLA was permitted to gain gradually after leaving the backstretch and, easily passing the early pacesetters when straightened out for home, wen in hand. SIR MITCHELL threatened on the outside nearing the stretch turn and bore in slightly during the last sixteenth, but finished fairly well. MASTER MAN made up ground to finish fast on the outside to get a dead-heat for second place with SIR MITCHELL COVENANT showed good early speed and was in close quarters while tiring near the end. JOLIRAB was beaten when he was forced to take up in the last twenty yards. DAWTY broke well and" had some early speed. ARDOCH went to the front at once and, after withstanding an early challenge frcm AIR ROCKET, held off the stretch bid of FIDDLER to win narrowly. FIDDLER moved up on the inside of ARDOCH on the stretch turn and, although at a disadvantage through being in the heavier footing in the last furlong, raced courageously to the end and just missed. AIR ROCKET weakened when unable to head ARDOCH, but was best of the others. MASTER MARINER was racing well at the end. HACKENSACK failed to threaten. WHIRLING BAT and KORITZA were off poorly. ROYAL MINT went to the front at fince, relinquished the lead to HYVANIA when the latter got through on the inside rounding the far turn, but saved much ground on the stretch tum and again got to the front in the final furlong and lasted under a drive. HYVANIA drew into a good lead after getting through an opening, then, raced wide on the stretch turn and bore out and lost command, but was gaining on the extreme outside at the end. NEWSWEEKLY sprinted to the front after going a quarter, withstood a challenge from BUZFUZ after entering the stretch, drew out easily in the last sixteenth and won without opposition. REVEILLE raced forwardly throughout, saved ground in the stretch and went gamely to the end. BUZFUZ moved up strongly on the outside entering the stretch, but weakened in the final drive. JAY racing as if easily best, dashed to the front when ready, drew away from his opposition at leisure and won in hand. FOURTEEN GRAND made a good move while saving ground around the stretch turn and into the closing furlong, but was taken in hand in the final thirty yards when it became apparent that he could not overtake the winner. ADAMANT raced forwardly and held on fairly well. NARVIKO loomed as a threat nearing the stretch turn, but lost all chance by going very wide on the bend. SAILS went to the front early, opened up a good lead and was given a breather nearing the stretch turn, then drew away again and, although tiring near the end, was not threatened. EUTAW was forced to ease back soon after the start and was outrun to the last quarter, then made up much ground and was gaining. HOPEFULLY was taken in hand going to the first turn, moved up well when called upon on the backstretch, then faltered in the stretch. BALL HAWK was never a contender and bested tiring horses.
