Harold F. Dwyer Named Centennial Mutuel Head Colorado Native Now Serving as Chief Calculator at Churchill DENVER, Colo., May 6. — General manager Willard F. Tunney announced today that the Centennial Turf Club has secured the services of Harold F. Dwyer for the position of mutuel manager at Centennial Park during the 46-day horse racing season which will open July 4. Dwyer is the chief calculator at Churchill Downs, Louisville, Ky., and is a native of Colorado. He is widely-known in thoroughbred racing circles where he is regarded as one of the most capable mutuel managers in the nation. Born in Leadville 51 years ago, Dwyers family moved to Denver where he attended Evans grade school and was graduated from East Denver high school. In addition to his work at Churchill Downs, Dwyer has served in the mutuel departments at Bay Meadows, Golden Gate Fields, Santa Anita and Tanforan, on the West Coast, and Arlington and Washington Parks in Chicago. "Centennial Park is very fortunate to secure the services of Dwyer," Tunney said and added: "It is only fitting that a native of this state be returned here to be one of the officials at the revival of thoroughbred racing, especially since he has made such a highly regarded name for himself in the racing world." Dwyer will arrive in Denver to take over his duties at the close of the present season at Churchill Downs.
