FIGHTING BACK, away sluggishly, worked his way forward to enter serious contention nearing the furlong marker and, under good handling, was up in the final strides to prevail over RUHE. The latter reached the lead between calls during the stretch run, but weakened slightly during the late stages and could not withstand the winner. WETUMKA made the pace to the stretch, then faltered under hard urging. CHARLOTTA K. closed with a belated rush in a" sharp effort. MUSCAT passed tiring horses. MENDY quit. BOLD ARROW had no mishap. CHECK UP, unhurried when outrun early, responded readily when called upon for the final test and was up in the concluding strides to dispose of SABSON. The latter gained command momentarily midway of the drive, was under hard urging thereafter, but could not withstand the winner. HEAD AN TELL, probably best, was steadily carried out through the stretch by MIST 0 DAWN, but closed determinedly in a sharp effort. PLUCKY PRINCE met with interference while making his belated bid when MIST 0 DAWN drifted out The latter bore to the outside from the three-sixteenths marker to the stands while tiring. BUCKIE failed to stay. JAL moved up boldly along the inside rail when MIST 0 DAWN carried part of the field out, then tired. HOT CHOCOLATE was eased when hopelessly beaten. Following the. running of the race, the stewards immediately posted the inquiry sign and would have disqualified MIST 0 D. .VN had the latter finished among the first four horses. NEVER IN DOUBT made the pace to the stretch under steady rating and held sway thereafter under brisk urging. JUNIORS HOBBY moved up to challenge the winner entering the stretch, then lacked a convincing rally . SQUINT was unable to improve his position when hard ridden through the late stages. CANINA SIS lacked a rally. LINDA JANE had no apparent excuse. DAME POLLY was in close quarters throughout most of the journey. HARD HITTER raced wide. DASHA was outrun. NO MORE HASH was slow getting started. SOUTH WIND was never a threat FORTUITOUS moved up boldly before going, a half mile, then quit. SUN DAVID, outrun early, steadily improved position after the opening quarter, responded to strong handling through the stretch and was up to dispose of WISCONSIN BOY in the last sixteenth. The latter assumed command at once, established a clear lead before reaching the stretch, then faltered during the drive and could not withstand the winner, but was much the best of the others. OLD TOM held on well in a good effort after suffering interference during the stretch run. IS THERE swerved during the drive, bumped OLD TOM, then weakened. ON THE SPOT was forced back at the upper turn and failed to recover. ROYCE was outrun. AUNT JAYNE Z. was never prominent. Overweight— On the Spot, 1 pound. PRETTY BOY BOB, never far back, closed willingly under punishment, but could not menace the winner, although much the best of the others. INDIAN GOLD lacked early speed, but finished fast HARRY D. saved ground throughout, made a mild bid entering the stretch, then faltered. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. MIDDLEGROUND, never far back and saving ground under a steady ride, moved up boldly at the stretch turn and, after taking command, held HILL PRINCE safe. The latter, on the inside from the start, was in close quarters at the upper tum, continued willingly when clear and, after suffering some interference from the tiring YOUR HOST, closed resolutely, but could not overtake MIDDLEGROUND. MR. TROUBLE, a sharp factor from the start, was much used engaging YOUR HOST until inside the stretch, then failed to rally when set down in the drive. SUNGLOW began fast, dropped back after the start, then recovered and moved up steadily, but could not better his position when hard ridden during the final furlong. OIL CAPITOL began fast, raced well after the break and made a good bid nearing the stretch, then tired, but dead-heated with HAWLY for fifth. HAWLEY tired after showing early speed, but finished on equal terms with OIL CAPITOL LOTOWHITE was outrun. YOUR HOST began alertly, gave way to MR. TROUBLE after three-quarters of a mile, then came again to assume command, but tired badly during the stretch run. ON THE MARK was never dangerous. HALLIEBOY showed nothing. DOOLY was through early.
