Everett Out of Two Posts at Las Vegas VegasOfficials Officials Hopeful Difficulties Will Be Ironed Out in Short Order LAS VEGAS Nev June 8 A spokesman for the Las Vegas Jockey Club this morning told a DAILY RACING FORM correspondent that the executives of the jockey club were highly optimistic that the current difficul ¬ ties which brought about the show cause hearing here Saturday in Federal Judge Robert T Foleys court would be swiftly ironed out when the court received a full explanation of the situation situationFoley Foley had ordered Webb Everett who had been appointed executive vicepresi ¬ dent and executive general manager of the Las Vegas organization removed from those positions Foley made his decision after special master H W Edwards re ¬ ported that Alfred J Luke designated as general manager of the La Vegas Jockey Club in the reorganization of the bankrupt racing property had been removed and replaced by Everett who formerly had been racing secretary at Santa Anita Park ParkHowever However a spokesman for the track stated that LiJke had not been replaced by Everett and that it was simply a mis ¬ understanding and that if there had been a violation of court orders it was uninten ¬ tional Everett has agreed to cancel his contract with the Las Vegas Jockey Club but is expected to rejoin the organization organizationAt At the hearing Raymond Roberts an attorney from Van Nuys California and a member of the Board of directors who filed the action said that the original plans of the association to distribute 18 000 a day in stakes and purses was hiked to 28000 a day when Everett was hired hiredIn In answer to Roberts charges the tracks spokesman stated that it is necessary to disburse the latter amount in order to con ¬ duct the sports on a high plane and to compete with Del Mar and the Northern California courses and that only by ex ¬ pending such a sum can they hope to make a success of their meeting They also point out that 14 of the 15 directors favor the new plans of the organization including two of the three directors appointed by the court to represent the old stockholders And furthermore that 100 per cent of the new stockholders with the exception of Luke and 75 per cent of the old stock ¬ holders have approved their objectives objectivesThe The spokesman added that f there were any violations of the bylaws 6f the court supervised corporation they were uninten ¬ tional and just as soon as the court was thoroughly acquainted with The Jockey Clubs aims he was sanguine of its 100 per cent approval including the reinstatement of Everett to its staff staffBoth Both Everett and Luke who were to ¬ gether at the time requested DAILY RACING FORM to deny that there was any rift In their friendship as some rumors to the contrary had indicated No clash of per ¬ sonalities whatsoever was their comment commentJudge Judge Foley has referred the matter back to special master Edwards and another hearing is expected to come up some time this week
