engagement in perfect condition The colt gained a new host of t friends on Saturday when he was a bang up second to Safety in the six furlongs of the Reginald W Rives Handicap He was the only threeyearold in the test and one of the few ranked among the topnotchers that has engaged older horses this season4 to date Jamie K was conceding weight to lis older opponents actual and on the scale which rnakes his performance all the more commendable The pace in that race was fast and veteran racegoers were quick v to notice that Arcaro had him well up from the start and well within striking distance of the leaders This demonstration of early speed on his part could be taken as an omen that on Saturday the pacemakers will not draw away into a commanding ad ¬ vantage on him himJamie Jamie K is not the best post horse in the country He appears to have a com ¬ plex when it conies to busting away as tHe stall doors are opened He dwells s slightly as if scared by the noises that attend a start and is at a disadvantage A However when fully settled in stride that is something1 else again Belmont Park observers will get a good look at him on Saturday The start is effected within a few yards of the finish line that is thus passed twice on this memorable trip for gold and glory gloryNative Native Dancer the Vanderbilt starter is still the favorite with the boys This colt has had several tough races this year and came through okay The paddock gang are still harping on the result of the Derby he missed by a head the result of the Preak v ness he won by a neck and they are trying to determine on the basis of those two re suits the outcome of the Belmont which is a further piece than either of them Jack Campbell in going over the list of probable starters this morning Va farm worked a couple sets of horses then moved on to Delaware Park to saddle a pair and then back to the farm to pick out some reinforcements for the Belmont Park division divisionWhitney Whitney
