Blue Grass Memos By HUGH J McGUIBE Huebitos Effort Pleases Jordan Juvenile Lowers Mexico City Mark Four Winds Dam of Filly by Noor NoorLEXINGTON LEXINGTON Ky June 9 We have al ¬ ways thought that it is a very healthy con ¬ dition that breeders invariably continue ineir p from their farms when the horses get to the faces even thuogh they have changed owner ¬ ship several times We were pleased when Harold Jordan a member of the staff at Charles T Fishers Dixiana called out at ¬ tention to a story from the Hipodromo at Mex ¬ ico City which stated uesitos a twoyearOla son o Run Wind Drift had shattered a nine yearold track mark for four and a half furlongs when he zipped the distance in 52 as he won by seven lengths The time is just a second off Saggy s world mark The story named Howard Underwood of Lexington as breeder of the winner where ¬ as Jordan informs us that he was the breeder and sold the colt to Underwood That Jordans interest may have been something more than academic and some ¬ what practical in that he has a yearling filly by Bull Run from a Johnstown mare does not detract from his pride in the fleet Huesitos HuesitosJordan Jordan was equally enthusiastic over the Dixiana foal crop which stands tied at seven colts and fillies with Far Star who was bred late still to cast the decid ¬ ing vote She is in foal to Jet Pilot The second foal of the good marc Four Winds is a handsome bay filly Tiy Noor Won drings first foal is an engaging miss by Polynesian Certainly neither of these fillies needs blush for their parents Among the colts Jordans fancy runs to sons of Devil Diver Adda Pearl and Rippey Early Blossom Dixiana was most unfortunate to have lost a full brother to the swift Sub Fleet The mis ¬ hap was due apparently to the mare having been kicked Miss Mary Fisher has a comely filly foal who is a full sister to Fulvous and Jordan tells us that the twoyearold full sister to the same speedster is more svelte than Fulvous She is at Chicago with the racing stable and lias been named Fulgent Jordan is particularly sanguine for the futures of the set of Spy Song and he is also of the opinion that Star Reward who was be leived to have been somewhat shy is showing definite promise of improve ¬ ment mentBlades Blades of Blue Grass Army worms have made inroads into the pastures at several breeding farms They affect horses only in so far as they ruin the grass which prompted XJr Bill McGee to remark that conceivably they could stare a horse to death Allen T Simmons returned to Akron after an inspection of the foal crop at his Idle Hour farm He could not fail to be pleased with the outcome as he had 13 colts and three fillies The crop includes a full brother to Blue Man and a full sister to Everett Jr which makes nice reading L P Doherty left for New York to attend the FasigTipton sale at Belmont June 10 and 11 He will also be persent at a direc ¬ tors meeting of the sales company and take in the running of theTSelmontTElussell Nuzum with several commissions is also attending the sale saleRumors Rumors here has it that someone tipped off the horses sold by Leslie Combs II as yearlings of the impending sale at Keenelarid in July Three horses from Combs Spendthrift sales consignments won stakes within 10 days Incidentally who fetched 10000 accounted for the Hancocas Second Avenue who went through the
