ANOTHER BIG COUP FOR W. H. FIZER. Camille M. Defeats Linda Lake After a Hard Drive at Fort Erie. Buffalo, N. Y., August 28. One of the biggest killings of the meeting came off at Fort Erie this afternoon when W. II. Fixers Camille M. beat .out Linda Lake in the second race. The tip on the filly was pretty well circulated, for immediately the prices were chalked up there was a rush to get aboard the good thing. There was steady play on Camille M. throughout the betting until 2 to 1 was the best obtainable at post time. With four winning favorites and one of the other winners well backed, the ring suffered heavy losses on the afternoon. The defeats of Charlie Gilbert and Meddlesome Boy, both of which were at odds-on, helped the layers out a bit, but despite this the day was a disastrous one for them. Edward Trotter furnished two of the winners in Excitement and Bye Bye II. The latter ran a sensational race, coming from last place on the backstreteh and winning in a canter. A majority of thu races resulted in driving finishes, but it remained for the feature race, at a mile, to. furnish the best contest. There were five starters and at the end three of them were fighting it out heads apart. The winner turned up In Toddles, which displayed great courage in the final drive. Charlie Gilbert was beaten a head for the place. The lajter was an odds-on favorite, but Mulcahy was unequal to the task of finishing with Euglander and Delaby when it came to a drive. Jockey McCarthy left tonight for Montreal. V. Powers and James Hogg leave tomorrow night. The suspension against jockey Fairbrother has been lifted by the judges and the latter will ride tomorrow. Jockey J. Murphy will ride for the Pasadena Stable at the Norfolk meeting.
