THE FAT LADY— Shaffer stakes star is training satisfactorily. Is due for early visit to winners ring. PORTERS BROOM— Partial to the Downs racing strip and morning trials indicate that he is ready for good effort. PUNKS — Trifle short when beaten here on inaugural day and should improve off that performance. INVERCORK— Hard-hitting plater belongs with ,500 company and should annex purse during the current Downs meeting. SKY RANGER — Better-than-average three-year-old raced well in only local outing and comes from well-trained stable. , COURAGE! — Recently claimed from Calumet Farm after finishing second in ,500 selling race. Is dead fit. MALS BOY — Manner in which he won Lafayette Stakes stamps this fine colt as the choice for the Bashford Manor. STAR PIGEON— High class plater is in excellent condition and should beat good field at sprint distance here on fast strip. JERRY NASH— Maiden two-year-old raced well at Keeneland and is due for early graduation victory. UNCLE OTHO — Aged but useful plater has touch of class. LUCKY AL — Prefers seven furlongs and firm footing for top effort and should beat field of ,000 class platers. JULIETS NURSE— Brown Hotel Stable filly is the early favorite for Debutante Stakes and she is presently at peak form.
