Grosgraln moved up to the leaders after they had gone a mile and stole away Into a long lead while going down the back-stretch for the second time around, but was tiring at the end and driving to the limit to stall off Hand-more. The latter finished fast and was closing up on the winner and would have beaten him in another stride, but Wishard was overconfident and lost the race by drawing the finish fine. Lou M. stayed well and outgamed Del Carina In the final drive. The latter closed a big gap in the last half. Rossmond was under restraint for the first mile, but tired and quit when Oregar called on him in the last half. The time scored is a new record for the distance. The latter moved up gamely on the outside after entering the homestretch, but tired in the last fifty yards under punishment. Lucy Young began slowly, but closed a big gap and finished resolutely. Goldmate was well ridden and saved from the early pace until well around the far turn, where he went to the leaders with a rush, shook off Merely Mary Ann when entering the homestretch and easily drew away In the last furlong. Merely Mary Ann was made too mucli use of in racing. Grace Wagner and Libation into defeat in the first half aud was all out when Goldmate caught her. Tarp finished with a rush and would have been second in a few more strides. Grace Wagner showed early speed, but tired and did not run to her best form. Libation quit after going a half. Jack Dolan ran the best race he has shown at the meeting, displayed plenty of early speed, raced St. Joseph into subjection in the first half and was going away at the end. St. Joseph finished gamely, but ran a dull race and looked dry and tucked up when going to the post. Hadur came again in the last furlong and outgamed Corliss in the final drive. The latter was left at the post, but went after his opponents and was on almost even terms with the leaders when entering the homestretch. He Is worth remembering. Robin Hood Is one of the worst quitters on the ground, set a fast pace and had a winning lead at the furlong post, but quit when Auditor challenged. Ida Davis moved up with Auditor when rounding Into the homestretch, but tired at the end. Davenport showed a good burst of speed, but tired. Room Mate finished gamely. The latter was much used in chasing the winner and tired. Leader was cut off at the tnrn out of the backstretch and dropped out of contention. St. Tammany was closing up at the finish, but ran a bad race and was badly ridden.
