SHARP PRACTICE GIVES RACE TO FUSTIAN Booker Fins Secret to the Rail in Ascots Feature and Is Fined 00 for It. Los Angeles, Cal., January 27. The San Pedro Selling Stakes, at one mile, resulted in a rousing finish. Fustian just lasting long enough. Secret was pinned against the inside rail by the winner and J "stumbled In the last stride or he would have won. Fustian was bid up from ,000 to ,200 .by J. J. Judge Hamilton was In a disciplinary mood, fining three jockeys. Booker was fined 00 for pinning Secret against the rail while on Fustian; Swain 00 for crowding Golden Buck against the rail while on Interlude, and MeDaniel 5 for rough riding while on Embarrassment. J. J. McCafferty claimed Miss Betty for 25 out of the second race. The largest crowd of easterners present since racing started at Ascot Park was out today. The betting was heavy and spirited and the racing today was the best by far of the meeting.
