Dr. Leggo, away well, leisurely trailed at the heels of Proper and when both moved up simultaneously on the far turn left the favorite as if he was anchored and made good with a decisive stretch run, was much the est and his running was in great contrast to previous displays. Red Leaf ran in close pursuit of the pacemaker throughout and saved second place in wonderfully game style from Proper. The latter, bumped at the start, quickly got into a good position and maintained It with clear sailing to the stretch, where he just failed to get up for second place in a grand race. Lubin, very badly handled, was sent along prematurely on the backstretch and ran a wonderful race, but should have been waited with for the stretch run.
