WILLIAM FIELDS LOSES A STALLION. Lexington, Ky., January 27. McDowell, the seven-year-old brown horse by Wagner Wisteria, by Harry OFallon, is dead at the breeding establishment of William Fields, Jr. The horse was taken suddenly ill and died before a veterinary could be summoned. McDowell was bred by Mr. Fields and sold by him as a yearling. When he was offered at auction here last fall Mr. Fields purchased him for 00 and expected to make a public season with him this spring. As a two-year-old McDowell started twice. He finished third in the National Stallion Stakes won by Cunard. As a three-year-old he made but one start. It was in the Larchmont Stakes at Morris Park. Water Boy finished a head in front or him, but had fouled McDowell and was disqualified, first money going to McDowell.
