BLUE DALE WINS FEATURE. KARAMA IS DISQUALIFIED FOR FOULING IN NATIONAL STAKES. Nicol Is Suspended for Eight Days and Fined 00 Modred Goes Lame in First Race-City Paik News. New Orleans, La., February 22. AllK-rt Simons Faverdale colt, nine Dale, added the National Stakes to Ids list, ot victories 1- beating some of the best youngsters la training here. He took up 120 pounds and finished a length In front of the fast Karama. The race was run over a slow and lnmpy track and the half mile in 50J marked a fast performance. The race was not truly rim. however. Several of the starters were interfered with by Karama, which swerved across from the outside to the inside as the bunch made the turn out of the backstretch. Karama brpke from behind, rushed to the front and then cut across in front. Lens, Judge Treen and Preciosa II. were the principal sufferers, Pat Dunnes colt losing a half dozen lengths by the Interference. Blue Dale was Kara-mas closest attendant in the early running and when the latter tired In the final sixteenth, he overhauled and passed him without much effort. Karama was promptly disqualified and this gave second place to Lens and third place to Bosserian. Obert was cleared of all blame by the starter and starting judge, who said that the boy made every effort to keep the colt in. Jockey Nicol came in for official censure for his ride on Robin Hood. The judges took the view that lie purposely carried Prince Brutns from the middle of the track to the inside in an endeavor ti. jjcat the latter . NJop, was, suspended freight, racing days and as an additional punishment a fine of 00 was Imposed. A carload of horses left tonight for Oaklawn track, Hot Springs. Among them were the horses owned by J. J. Flannigan, which Included Happy Jack II., Skyward, Arc Light, Signal Light and Polly Perkins. C. E. Broslus took np three belonging to .7. H. Davenport, among them Foxiuead. On Saturday Dr. T. SI. Cassldy, the eastern turfman will ship his stable to Oaklawn. His horses will go from here in charge of Edward Peters, who will also ship his stable from the old track to the. Vapor . City track. Jockey Oregar was suspended for ten days by starter Cassidy for disobedience at the post. Ore-gar rode Foreigner, whicli was left in the third race. Jockey Jenkins, who had the mount on Preciosa II. in the stake, had his leg bruised by coming in contact with the inside fence when Karama shut him off. The hair on the lillys stifle was also scraped off. Beginning tomorrow at City Park the horses will be called to the post for the first race at 2:13 each afternoon. William Wallace, of Lexington, Ky., who is racing a stable of horses at the old track, was removed this morning from his hotel to the New Orleans Sanitarium. Wallace is suffering from appendicitis. Modred, which was a starter in the first race, broke down in the off fore ankle just before the field reached the turn into the homestretch. Larsen was forced to dismount at the head of the homestretch and the horse with much difficulty was removed from the track.
