SNYDERS PAIR FINISH ONE-TWO IN STAKE. Ellison Gives His Filly Heavy Support Martin Claims Foul Goldblatt Wants Aubuchon. New Orleans, La., February 22. C. R. Ellisons filly Elsie Jauis, half-sister to Rams Horn, was brought down from Memphis especially for the Martha Washington Stakes, run at the old track this afternoon. With her came a report that she bad worked a half mile over Montgomery Park track In 48 seconds fast enough to beat almost any ones horse and the way Ellison and bis friends bet on her gave color to the report. She Is a good looking filly, and ran as if she had learned her lesson fairly well, except for a bit of schooling at the basrier. She caused a lot of trouble at the post, but the field was Dually sent off in a compact bunch. They ran In a solid mass for about a furlong, when Runsum showed in front, with Mintberia alongside. Straightened out for home, though, Bemay, the better one of the Snyder pair, took the lead and won easily from her stable companion, Mintberia. Elsie .Tanis was always well up and was only beaten a neck In a drive for second place. Jack Martin claimed a foul against Atwood in tha last race. The horses were runulng on the extreme outside of the stretch in all the races and in the last Martin tried to bring Dapple Gold through on th outside and Atwood crowded him In a bit. The claim was dismissed presumably on the ground that Atwood was entitled to the right ot way. Mose Goldblatt sent a man to Hot Sjrings tonight to try to secure a contract on jockey Aubucbnii for the remainder of the season here.
