Utica raced into a long lead with an amazing hurst of speed and only succumbed in the last stride after excessive use in pacemaklng. Mabel Hollander, iwiy poorly journeyed In deep going throughout and, telng badly messed about, finished tiring and a distant third. Naopa seemed unable to wise a respectable gallop and ran a very bad race. Saxonia, unav badly, eloseda big gap and my be a .coming good one. Cock Sure Rained a living start but was reserved in close pursuit of the pacemaker in the early running, then raced graduallv into the lead on the far turn and came away in the stretch to win comfortably. Rusticate, after trailin" in the rear, finished with a rush in the worst going on the inside. Lord Nelson, away flat-footed raced into the lead quickly, but went hopelessly wide on the turns and had no chance with Incompetent handling. Frank Flittner, at the weights, put up a good performance and was closing up fust at flic end. Merry-go-round ran in a rear position to the stretch, where she finished well on the extreme outside and will improve. Scratched UOICO Nettie Hicks. 100. Alice Cary had a flying start, but relinquished the lead to Bear Iluuter. which she indulged witli a small advantage to the stretch, where she came along fast and won going away. Bear Hunter liked the stiff going and, after forcing the pace to the stretch, easily held second place. Dr. Sherman, awav poorly and badly messed about, turned very wide in the stretch and finished with a belated rush. Gibraltar showed good early speed and failed to stay, but was a good fourth. Janeway improved his position. The Reprobate was seeminglv anchored in the deep going. My Order ran a bad race. Scratched C0312 Dora L, 103; C04S3 Albert Enright, 107. Dusty Miller, froni a flvlng start, assumed command after going the first quarter and was never seriously menaced afterwards. Chablis was the only serious contender, being in nearest attendance 011 the winner throughout and putting up a game closing struggle. Briers, away flatfooted and forced into an Inside position all the way, was pocketed on the backstretch and loomed up well in. the stretch, but was never dangerous. el-lowstone ran in forward and game contention throughout. Major Tenuy got away badly and closed a coii-fciderable gap. Mr. Farnnm finished close up and ran a good race. Scratched G0G39 Lady Kent. 105; C0514 Glenarvou, 107. Lily Golding raced quickly into a tremendous lead and, after seeming able to spreadeagle the others, finished tiring suddenly and swerving to the inside. Judge ran in second position throughout in a fast and game pursuit and left the others in the last quarter as if they were anchored. Watchful, squeezed out early and losing a half dozen lengths, made up ground rapidly after losing a lot of ground by a wide stretch turn and finished like a shot in a superior effort. Kl Dlnero, after being in forward contention early, dropped to the rear in the last quarter. Dargln tired badly after being prominent for half the journey. Tocolaw received a flying start, but was taken hack and reserved in close pursuit of the pacemaker on the outside good going and, joining issue in the stretch, Knapp outfinlshed Dugan, gaining a lucky verdict. Dentsch-land made the running under a pull to the stretch, where he was downed by a bungling finish and injudiciously bandied. Neva Lee, on the inside, was shut off early and, dropping far back, finished on the inside in deep going and could never get up. Gosslper II., on the inside in deep going, was in gain e and forward contention throughout. Lisaro finished close up. Corrected weights Gosslper II., 100!
