CHARAWINDS PICKWICK STEEPLECHASE. Cross-Country Event the Feature at City Park Orly Runs Another Sparkling Race. New OHeans. La.. February 2S. Charawind won the Pickwick Steeplechase at City Park this afternoon. The conditions of the race called for n journey over the full course with its thirteen obstacles. It was a stirring contest with a hard drive between four of the nine starters at the end. In the second ran; Orly showed his quality by shouldering 1114 pounds and heating some good horses. He won by a nose from Envoy. The mile and a sixteenth was run in 1:10, the first mile in l:3!j. Starter Cassidy has arranged to send two of Ids assistants east at the end of this week. One will go to the Belmont Park track and the other to Bennings. They will erect starting gales and from March 4, on they will schuol horses to the barrier at both places. Steeplechase jockey Slater leaves for Louisville in a few days to report to Koine Respess. He will assist in the schooling of several horses which Respess intends for steoplechasing.
