"GIVE A DOG A BAD NAME," ETC. This from the Memphis News-Scimitar Is hardly the sort of tiling Jockey Hlldebrand would choose for a place in his book of scraps of commendatory comment anent his riding: "Hlldebrand left for Now York Saturday evening to report to his employer, .Mr. Whitney. During the last two days of his riding here the once premier jockey gave exhibitions of riding that would call for judicial investigation on a metropolitan track. Hihlebrands ride on the 4 to 5 favorite, Mike Sutton, in the second race Friday was so criminally bad as to call for unsurpassed criticism by the most unsophisticated race-goer. In the light of the fact that Joe Yeager, his former employer, had bet several thousand dollars on the winner, Elksino, a very unfortunate angle was presented. All things considered it is probably all for the best that Hlldebrand decided to leave for New York when he did."
