Vestryman got off well, raced in behind the loaders for a half and then, getting into a contending position, went Jo tlie front at the head of the stretch and was never extended afterwards. Henry Waring broke well, but was taken back, then came fast in the stretch, but could not catch the winner. Pentagon, after overcoming much interference, saved ground on the stretch turn. but. was in the worst going lo tlie liuish. Stouer Hill raced in front to the stretch and appeared the winner, but unexpectedly tired. Cau-trome unseated her rider while at the post and ran seven furlongs at slow speed. Attention was shulllod back at the start and seeined to be hopelessly out of it on the stretch turn, but made up much ground under punishment and, catching 15 can Brummel at the sixteenth post, outgamed him. Beau Brummel improved suddenly, but was niessed about and taken into the heavy going in .he stretch and, otherwise, would have won. Arno closed up like a shot in the stretch and would have won in a few more strides and his race was a line one, showing speed and ganieness. Zanllss met witli Interference ami finished gamely. Attila ran his usual waiting race "and then finished witli a whirlwind rush, was the best and would have won in a few more strides. Scalplock saved a half dozen lengths when turning into the stretch, but tired in the final strides. Bebounder was raced into defeat In trying to get away from Chancellor AValworth. Fred Mader went well, but was never ill dangerous contention. Miss Eberlee showed speed, but unit suddenly on the backstreich. Winchester was badly messed about. Reside, off well, was in forward contention throughout, wore down Pedro when half way down the stroticu and, under punishment, managed to last long enough. Tom Gilroy was crowded back at the start, had to go around his opponents to get into contention, finished fast and was liest. Pedro was raced into defeat In making the onrly running and was out to the last ounce to withstand Miuot. The latter was outrun early, but was closing up at the end. The last four were never dangerous.
