JOCKEY IS CAUGHT WITH A BATTERY. At Denver on Saturday last, the closing day of the meeting at Overland Park, jockey G. Stevens, who comes from Texas, was ruled off the turf for life. While he was at the post on Banner Boy IV., he was found to have in hand an electric battery. The instrument was taken from him and the case reported to Judge Stebbins, who acted promptly uiider Rule 230 of the Western Jockey Club. S. S. Bernard, of Colorado Springs, and all of his trotting horses were ruled off for "fixing" a harness race. This is the end of harness racing under the auspices or the Denver-Overland Club. It has been announced that there will lie no more mixed meetings at Overland Park and that next year the runners will hold full sway.
