Blue Coat ran in reserve in behind Father Catchem until the stretch turn was reached, then moved up and caught the pacemaker in the last sixteenth and won out in a hard drive. Father Catchem showed the most early speed and finished resolutely. Tickle was always in close pursuit and ran a good race, but tired at the end. Gold Enamel began slowly, but ran a good race and would have been third in another stride. Stoner Hill finished fast. Picaroon showed early speed. GIpsao, off in a good position, was carefully nursed and went over the obstacles In a leisurely manner, withstood three separate challenges and was only cantering at the end. Allegiance began slowly and closed up rapidly from the last jump, but was unable to catcli the winner. Trenct the Mere showed speed at the Snlsh only. Madoe was much used in making the pace in the early running and tired. Bob Murphy showed early speed, but ran a bad race and can do better. Little Wally was not energetically ridden. Peter Sterling was much the best, was saved from the early pace, moved up like a Hash at the three-eighths post, wore the leaders down and drew away .and won as his rider pleased. Jack Dolau ran for-wardly throughout and was well ridden, had no mishaps, but ivas not in the winners cbiss today. Gold-mate, outrun In the early stages, made a challenge at the head of the streteh, hut failed to get in striking distance of the leader. Shineon was the victim of a bad ride, made three separate runs and was all out when the stretch was reached. Henry Wattersou made the early running, hut only on sufferance. Pedro ran a good race and. with a better rider, would have won. Tom Gilroy came from away back and closed a big gap. The latter began slowly and was pocketed and, after getting clear, made up ground rapidly. Arab ran well and was driving to the limit at the end to stall off the rush of Attila. The latter came from away back and finished fast. Dance Music and Jim Beattie showed speed, but failed to stay.
