SLOPPY TRACK AT SANTA ANITA PARK. Mud Horses Again Have Preferred Chances — Susie Christian Breaks Leg and Is Destroyed. Los Angeles, Cal., March 2C. — A heavy rain this morning made the track sloppy and for the first time in weeks gave the mudlarks a chance to earn braekets. In the sixth race Susie Christian and Transmute collided soon after the start, both falling heavily, Shriner, on Susie Christian, was shaken up badly but escaped with a broken finger. The mare broke her leg and was destroyed. Transmute was uninjured. Botanist bad a chance to show his mud-running abilities in the fourth raee and made good, carrying top weight and leading all the way. Sainridas defeat by Nadzu was a blow to the talent, which backed the former with the utmost confidence. Jockey Shilling was in good form again and his many followers reaped a harvest. Barney Schreiber arrived here this morning and will remain for a few days. Jesse Lewisohn leaves here tomorrow by way of Salt Lake City and goes direct to New York.
