LEE ROSE HAS "SHOWN" SCHREIBER. "I am from Missouri." said Barney Sehreiber after the running of the Boll Stakes at Oakland last Saturday, "•and jou know people in my country dont form an opinion on what others say. You must show them. That is the way I have always felt alxnit Lee Rose. The talk about him being a wonder never counted for much with me because lie beat Sam Sliaen and others of his kind. But I am now ready to admit that I have been shown. His race in the Bell Stakes has satisfied me that lie is all that has lieon claimed for him — a high-dass colt, only a good race horse could overcome the difficulties he encountered and win as he did in sensational time. When Mr. Walsh was reported to have paid ,000 for him I thought he had paid an extravagant price for the colt, but I am not m sure of that now. He looks like a good race horse and he certainly performed like one today."
