RUNNING RACE MEETING AT JOLIET. Preparations in Progress for Week of Racing at Ingalls Park This Summer. Ingalls Park, al .Toilet. III., will be the scene of a combination running and trotting meeting during the week beginning August 21! next. L. E. Ingalls. the Chicago real estate man. lio owns the track, auihori/ed the announcement yesterday and stated that he is making elaborate preparation for the racing, which will lie a feature of the Will County fall program. The preparations include the remodeling of the grandstand and resurfacing of the track, and nn- on a greater scale than ordinarily. Asked ir Ills plans contemplated racing with letting Mr. Ingalls replied thai there would be i.o snnctinn-d hooktnaklng. but thai if individuals chose to- ls-t between thepnerrn, it would be considered none of the management s business. The track is located outside tin- corporate limits of Joliet and. therefore, is under the iurisdiction of the Will County authorities. Joliet is within convenient access of Chicago and lining at that point on the beeper scale would attract extensive patronage from Chleagi.alis. It is recalled that a meeting at Ingalls Park paved the way for the reopening of the Chicago race Hacks some years ago after they had been closed for some lime previously. Ir would certainly please Chicago race -goers were history to repeat itself lu tills respect.
