Yet racing on American tracks has been SCTerelj crippled because of the predominai.ee of reformers. The prosperity of the sport in F.lig land, where King Kdward is the chief patron, is pointed to by American turfmen as a striking example. A triumph by Sir Martin will lie the means of restoring much of the turfs former popularity on this side of the Atlantic, it is thought. and will bring all classes of Amerii-ans to a realizing tense that the turf here needs encouragement and popular support.
