SONS OF STALWART BRING GOOD PRICES. First of the Get of That Great Horse Impress Buyers at Sheepshead Bay Sale. New York. July 7. Thirty-seven thoroughbred yearlings, consigned by the Kingston. Iroquois. Bal-gowan. Mere Hill and other studs, were auctioned off at the Fasig-Tipton Companys Sheepshead Day paddocks today for a total of 5,200. or a fraction over 1.1 ier head. Mr. Tipton said that this was a satisfactory average in view of the number that were sacrificed for almost nothing. II. K. Knapp. steward of the Jockey Club, chairman of the State Racing Commission and proprietor of the Oneck Stable, wa"s the principal buyer. He paid ,000. which was next to the highest price of the sale, for a half-brother to Belle of Iroquois by Stalwart. The first of the get of that great horse were offered today and. being exceptionally good lookers, excited keen competition. C. L. Harrison paid top price of ,100 for a hrown colt 1y Broomstick Lizzie T. Francis U. Hitchcock, who had attended the sale with the idea of simply being a spectator, was so impressed bv the good looks of a colt by Stalwart, out of PIseco. an untried Potomac mare, that lie bid ,100 and secured him.
