Tim Pippin, from a Hying start, was patiently reserved on the inside in close pursuit of the pacemaker, challenged in the last quarter and outstayed the leader in a long closing drive. Sir John Johnson drew out in the first stride and made the running to the last stride before he suecumled. Etherlal. away poorly, steadily improved his position, but failed to get up under an inadequate ride and weak finish. Royal Captive, after strenuous and nearest pursuit for half of the journey, tired badly in the closing drive. Miss Kearney, badly outpaced in the early running, finished well under a bad ride. Fashion Plate made the running under a pull and was eased up slightly in the stretch and challenged unexpectedly when Hearing the finish, then only saved first place in a hard drive, but was much the best. Yankee Daughter, patiently reserved far in the rear to the stretch, finished like a shot. Ruxton ran in forward and tenacious pursuit throughout. Verbatim was always prominent and made a game finish. Green-vale, from a Hying start, made the pace, made a slightly wide stretch turn, then came quickly across to the rail again and held sway to the end never seriously menaced. Schoolmarm broke slowly, but lapped the leader to the stretch turn and attempted to come through on the inside, was then forced to pull up and, losing tliree lengths, could never get up again in an extra good race. Charlie Ilargrave. under pressure fruuf the start, was badly outpaced by the first two. Harry Grotlie showed speed for a half mile. Scratched S3033 Our Hannah. 114. Lady Bedford, remarkably improved, maintained nearest and strenuous pursuit of the pacemaker, loomed up menacingly when, straightened for home, then retired into a secure second. Superstition, lrom a lying start, lapped the pacemaker from the start and drew out midway of the stretch, but just saved the race in a hard drive. Monocle broke slowly and closed up gradually, hut just failed to get up in a fast stretch sprint. Blackford, shuffled lrack on the first turn, was forwardly placed iu the middle running, but was crowded out and lost several lengths in the stretch and could not get up in a belated final challenge. Miss Catesliy, well up all the way, was a fast going fourth. Rye ran forwardly for seven furlongs. Acrobat, from a flying start, set the pace for seven furlongs and quit badly. Gild, nearly left, closed a big gap. Indomnitable made up much ground iu the last half. Rostrum was never dangerous. The winner was entered for 00: no bid. Eddie Dugan, always in forward and persistent pursuit of the leader, could never get up In a long final drive. Everett, well up throughout, was a persistent third. Acumen was also a prominent contender for live furlongs, but tired in the closing drive. Levenston, always well up. held on well at the end. Pocket, crowded out on the stretch turn. Is a good looker and promising. M. R. AVilliams. also promising, finished close up. Blundara has a sore mouth. Jack Frost uud Motion were knocked back at the start. Scratched Foursome. 109.
